چکیده
Abstract This article presents a conceptual study toward establishing new method for altering lateral boundary conditions in numerical model based estimates probable maximum precipitation (PMP). We altered an extreme event physically and dynamically consistent way regional convective-scale weather prediction (AROME-MetCoOp) by applying fields from global ensemble climate approach on EC-EARTH. Ten members are downscaled with the model, which results 10 different realizations of west coast Norway. show how position orientation moisture flow is between individual members, leads to relatively large changes values selected catchment. For example, modification transport scales several hundred kilometers impacts amount about 75% among members. Compared historical rainfall records, 62% 71% found two catchments. Although present restricted one particular that modified times approach, there considerable spread compared events past 40 years. conclude described step derive PMP given catchment; however, larger ensembles would have be considered estimate values.

A probabilistic approach to the concept of Probable Maximum Precipitation
The concept of Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) is based on the assumptions that (a) there exists an upper physical limit of the precipitation depth over a given area at a particular geographical location at a certain time of year, and (b) that this limit can be estimated based on deterministic considerations. The most representative and widespread estimation method of PMP is the so-called ...
متن کاملComparison of physical and statistical methods for estimating probable maximum precipitation in southwestern basins of Iran
The probable maximum precipitation (PMP) is the greatest depth of precipitation for a given duration that is physically possible over a given size storm area at a particular geographical location at a certain time of the year. In this study a physically based method was compared with a statistical procedure to calculate PMP in the southwest arid regions of Iran. In order to estimate PMP using a...
متن کاملConsistent Boundary Conditions for Open Strings
We study boundary conditions for the bosonic, spinning (NSR) and GreenSchwarz open string, as well as for 1+1 dimensional supergravity. We consider boundary conditions that arise from (1) extremizing the action, (2) BRST, rigid or local supersymmetry, or κ(Siegel)-symmetry of the action, (3) closure of the set of boundary conditions under the symmetry transformations, and (4) the boundary limit...
متن کاملUsing Probable Maximum Precipitation to Bound the Disaggregation of Rainfall
The Multiplicative Discrete Random Cascade (MDRC) class of model is used to temporally disaggregate rainfall volumes through multiplying the volumes by random weights, which is repeated through multiple disaggregation levels. The model development involves the identification of probability density functions from which to sample the weights. The parameters of the probability density functions ar...
متن کاملEstimating Probable Maximum Precipitation Based on Synoptic Method in Ghomrood Basin
Probable maximum precipitation (PMP), is the highest rainfall, which occurs at a given time in a basin. Hydrologist calculates the probable maximum flood for the design of overflow dams, by using the PMP, with two methods: statistical and synoptic. The purpose of this study is calculating PMP in the Ghomrood basin by using the synoptic method. For this purpose rain, meteorological data of the I...
